Behind Statement Design

Mark developed a deep appreciation for beauty and function at an early age, drawn to the refined functionality that makes good design so appealing.

Throughout high school and college, as an advanced art student, Mark was given the freedom to create his own curriculum, where the allure of limitless design and fabrication took hold. Art and design should have no boundaries, but still serve a distinct purpose -- and for Mark, that is what functional sculpture is all about.

At Syracuse University, Mark studied Industrial and Interaction Design while focusing on multimedia sculpture, blending the two disciplines as he saw fit.

After graduating with a B.I.D. from S.U., Mark moved to Los Angeles where his affinity for technology led him down an unforeseen path to the field of I.T. -- an unintended decade-long career diversion, albeit quite a useful one.

With a strong desire to leave corporate I.T., Mark took a step back and picked up where he left off in the world of multimedia sculpture, ultimately igniting a personal renaissance.

Soon after pivoting back into design and fabrication, Mark opened his first sculpture studio in Los Angeles, where he has been creating custom, functional art ever since.
